Relaxing Breath 4:7:8

Breathing is one of the most basic & effective ways to reduce stress. By simply focusing on deep, relaxed breathing you can lower stress hormones, reduce blood pressure, and help clear your mind. Try this exercise:

  1. Breath in for 4 seconds
  2. Hold your breath for 7 seconds
  3. Exhale for 8 seconds

This exercise may initially feel a little awkward, especially if you have never tried breathing exercises in the past. It may also seem subtle at first, but can become powerful with repetition. I recommend trying this exercise anytime you feel negative emotions, tension, stress, or have trouble falling asleep.
